Hi,

A secondary question to that is if it's necessary to do the testing if you've already had a baby? We already have a daughter. I've been reading on this and thought about doing it too since this is our last attempt. Didn't know if it was necessary since I've already had a baby.

Thanks.

Kristin,

I had all of the testing done before my first cycle four years ago. I believe I had NKa, APA, ATA and RIP. From what I can remember one of them (not the NKa) came back borderline so they put me on heparin until eight weeks gestation. All of my cycles have been successful and I have always been so thankful that I did all of the testing up front. I think you should definately get the testing done. That way you know you have done everything you possible can to achieve a pregnancy. Best of luck.

hi, I have had 2 children in the past. I did the testing after a failed IVF cycle. It came back as positive for the NKcell. I am in the Oct cycle with IVIg & intralipids to counteract the NKcell. ;) I would strongly recommend having the testing before cycling. If I had, I may have saved myself the cost and the emotional disappointment of a failed cycle. xxoo diana

Kristinc - I too had the Millenova testing; only found single copy of MTHFR. I was put on Folgard for extra Folic acid. I got off easy, but still no answer for my BFN. There are many many women on these boards who have had failed attempts, had the testing, found they had some sort of issue. They started their new meds ie: IVIG/heprin etc.... and they got a BFP right away. For me, it was a piece of mind. If they find something in your result, that just might be your answer. Good luck!!!

Thanks everyone for the responses! My gut keeps saying do it for a piece of mind. Dr A said he doesn't think I fit the "profile" but i have had a BFN already and don't want to have any more. And if I do go ahead and do the testing which ones should I have them test for?

I edited the original post adding in if you have had a baby.

kristinc, I was originally told i didnt need it either, didnt fit. I had 2 kids previously (over 20 yrs ago lol). Decided myself to go ahead and do it. He doesn't say you can't or shouldn't just that he didn't think it would be needed with the added expense. It doesnt gaurentee a BFP, remember that. But may save on an extra cycle. Or he may be right and find nothing. ;) I'm kinda glad they found something. Now there is a sorta an answer as to why and they can fix it. Hopefully the answer to a BFP. All you have to do is call up and say you want to set up a time to do genetic bloodwork to send off. They will know what to test for, you don't have to tell them. It's like a package, this this & this.. sorta thing. The more answers you have to the questions the better prepared the Doc can be to treat you! ;) xxoo diana
